Christmas Forgotten
by Gordon Lewis

Yes!
It's done!
It's over!
apart from the January sales.
Soon it will be time to count the cost,
for all things have to be costed if not counted.
Those carols that were sung so lustily
have gone quietly into yesterday's history.
Above the throng filled streets Christmas lights now wink
gratefully in acknowledgement of time well spent.
Is that it then?
No! For like those watchful shepherds
bathed in glorious light we too have
been to Bethlehem rejoicing in the sight
of God made flesh.
To those as yet unsaved
His trumpet call sounds out this day,
make a decision.
Step over that divide in faith,
with sorrow washed with tears - come make that transition
into the start of life anew,
for many are called but Oh! so few
accept his love.
A hill.
A cross.
A barbed wreath.
+
BEHOLD THE MAN!
+
Yes, it is done - Yes! it is over.
For therein lies the victory, in death mankind has been set free.
Yes! go on, you count the cost if you must.
But recognize,
Christ died for us.
