Christmas Star
by Cathy Mearman
twinkling star

Christmas star so bright,
Shining in the night.
Shepherds saw the light,
Heard the angels singing,
Good news bringing .... "A Saviour,
Born in Bethlehem tonight!"

Leaving their sheep on the mountainside
They hurried down to see the new-born child,
Finding him in a manger asleep on the hay.
Felt the wonder, felt the joy ...
They counted it an honour to be first
To see the divine family!

Wise men came from lands afar
Guided by the star,
Offering their gifts most rare.
They knelt down in worship before the infant King
Whose birth was foretold by the prophets of old
And whose coming was to bring peace and hope
To a lost and fallen world.
