The 100-Word Bible

September saw the launch of Rev Martin Hinton's 100-minute Bible, already being referred to by some as 'Bible-lite'. Hinton has sought to distil the Bible's message, written down over many centuries and by many hands, iinto a mere 57 pages. Others have since taken up the challenge to distill the message still further, into 100 words! Views attempt follows below. When being taught how to precis at Primary School, we were taught to read the text in questionand make notes, and then sit on it to prevent cheating. Views would like to assure readers that no Bibles were harmed in the making of this precis...

The 100-Word Bible

God speaks, a new earth is born. The world is spoilt and God floods it clean. The promise is shrouded in slavery but found again in freedom. Judges judge without justice and kings rule without power. Meanwhile prophets keep the hope alive, singing of a better day to come.

The promised child is born and the better day comes. They call him Jesus, in hopes or expectation. Rejected by his own earth, he dies a cruel death, and undergoes a miraculous resurrection. Empowered by him, new prophets sing a new song. Hope lingers now on a new horizon. God speaks...
