The Christmas 2005 issue of Tidings includes the following:

Letter from the Chair
During the Summer, I have continued to represent the Teddington Society on several occasions: enjoyably presenting a design award from our Planning Group to the team responsible for restoring the Normasfield Theatre, and attending a Civic dinner.

Like many of you, the summer saw me deserting Teddngon for other haunts and taking the opposrtunity to pursue some of my interests. One of the most exciting moments of my sumemr was a ride on a satellite monitored combine harvester on a friend's farm in Lincolnshire.

Because Parliament has had an unusually long recess this year (three months) I have been able to indulge myself with painting courses in Soemerset and Cambrudge and the Italian Lakes. It is however a pleasure to return to Teddington, whose green and friendly environment we try to sustain.

Back in Teddington, I have spent more time on my two allotments, battling the weeds that flourished when the rains eventually came and a glut of late raspberries.

While the Teddington Society continues to flourish with a membership of nearly 1000, we are always in need of more people to take a role in the varous sub-groups. I hope that those of you with an enthusiasm for planning, transport, litter-picking, the history of Teddington, or one of the other areas of focus, will feel able to take a more active part in our Society.

May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year, and I look forward to seeing lots of you at the Society's New Year Party.

From the Editor
We are delighted that the membership of the Teddington Society continues to grow but we really do need more members to take an active role.

In the Christmas 2005 issue of Tidings, you will read several pleas for more people to join the various Groups. All the Convenors would be delighted to hear from anyone who is willing to get involved: a very good way, not merely to make a contribution to our community, but also to get to know people locally. Crucially the Planning Group, which works so hard to monitor planning applications in Teddngton, is soon to lose its Convenor, as Richard Clift is due for a well-deserved retirement. If nobody comes forward to replace Richard, the valuable activities of this Group may have to cease.

Come along, also, to the coffee mornings and other social events and , in particular, plan to join us at our always popular New Year Party this year on January 28 and at the AGM on April 4.
