The Summer 2010 issue of Tidings includes the following:

Letter from the Chair
We are having a glorious Spring in Teddington after the prolonged snow and ice of the winter so that all the magnolias and prunus blossom has burst into sudden life. Three weeks of almost continuous sunshine has enhanced the display and we are able to enjoy it at present without the usual aircraft noise that comes with an East wind!

The A.G.M. was the usual success this year and underlined the great range of activities (outlined elsewhere in this newsletter) carried out by the convenors of the various groups. We are very lucky to have so many people willing to give time and energy to acting on behalf of people in Teddington. Our next major event is "Teddington in Flower" on Sunday June 13th and let us hope that this fine weather continues into the Summer.

Jenny Hilton

From the Editor
By the time this edition of Tidings reaches you, we will have a new Government and a new local Council. What that heralds remains to be seen and in the fullness of time we will be able to judge whether new, exciting (and successful) initiatives have been forthcoming.

Our own elections within the Teddington Society have been duly completed but, although the officers and Executive Committee are the same as last year, we are not standing still. We recognize that Teddington is the sum of its parts and its future lies in ensuring that everyone’s interests and concerns are taken into account. You will see from the minutes of the AGM that we are hoping to forge closer links with the local business community. We are also standing back and reviewing whether we can do more to further the objectives of the Society and to guarantee its long-term viability. Among those considerations is the question of how we can engage more with the younger members of our Teddington community. As a Committee we will be debating this and other issues but we do not pretend to have a monopoly on finding the right answers. Your views would be much appreciated – it is your Society, your Teddington, your future. So please, put "pen to paper" or "fingers to keyboards" – all contributions will be gratefully received.
