Letter from the Chair
Summer does seem to have arrived at last with very high temperatures (it was equally hot in Sweden at that time!) the grass is brown and plants are drooping in the heat. The weather was not yet so settled for the weekend of "Teddington in Flower" which was nevertheless the usual success due to the splendid organisation of Sheen and Pat and all the garden sitters and, of course, the wonderful flair and energy of the peole who open their gardens.

On a less happy note, the decline in the economy is apparent in the several emty premises in the High Street and Broad Street and it will be very worrying if this trend continues. Teddington's character is very much dependent on the villagy nature of its small shops and must all help a little by shopping locally whenever possible.
