The Christmas 2010 issue of Tidings includes the following:

Letter from the Chair
Having just returned from the brilliant colours of the "Fall" in Pennsylvania, it is a surprise in mid-October to see the trees in Teddington looking so green.

This is, of course, an anxious time for the economy of the whole country and, with the severe cut-backs (averaging 28%) to Local Authorities, it must be of concern to us in Teddington as to where the Borough of Richmond decides to let the axe fall. Highway authorities are likely to be hard hit, unable to repair pot-holes for example, and I do wonder whether it is sensible to spend a lot of money on re-organising the parking system at this difficult time?

We do of course have several things to look forward to in the Teddington Society - the switching on of the Christmas lights (popular with all ages), the Merits lunches, and, post-Christmas, the Society's annual party.

May I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Jenny Hilton

From the Editor
After the Lord Mayor's Show, we're back to black and white again. Let's hope we don't have to wait for another 150 issues before we do the same again. Can I take this opportunity to thank all of you who sent me notes, phone messages and emails saying how much they enjoyed the 150th issue. It makes the blood, sweat and tears that went into producing it all seem worthwhile.

Yo will see in this issue a couple of calls from Richmond Council for the views of local residents on a range of issues. The Teddington Society will no doubt be making its own views known but it too needs input from its membership to ensure that we do accurately reflect what your wishes are. Could we ask you if you would be prepared tto send us a copy of your responses to these questionnaires? It can be by email or letter. If you send them to me, I will collate them and bring them to the attention of the Executive Committee and to the leaders of the appropriate Working Groups. I will also guarantee that your identity will remain confidential to me - I will not pass it on unless you give me permission to do so.
