Message by Jonathan Findlater
Main Scripture:
Matthew 3:1–2, NIV
Main Message:
Repentance is more than feeling sorry.
- Regret wishes things had turned out differently.
- Remorse feels sorrow because our actions caused hurt.
- Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of direction.
The people of Nineveh turned from their evil ways. Their repentance was shown by their actions – Jonah 3
John the Baptist preached:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” — Matthew 3:2
Jesus also said:
“Repent and believe the good news!” — Mark 1:15
True repentance should lead to visible change:
“Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.” — Matthew 3:8 (NLT)
How Do We Repent?
- Be honest about where change is needed.
- Take sin seriously.
- Confess it to God.
- Turn towards God and His grace.
- Trust in His forgiveness.
Main Point:
Repentance is turning from sin and turning towards God.
It is not simply saying sorry or feeling regret or remorse but allowing God to change our thinking, direction and behaviour.
